Yes I've done Napster. Yes I've done Morpheus. Yes I've done Grokster. So I really don't want hear any "why pay when you can get it for free?" crap.

I'm checking into emusic It's a pay to play music site that charges $15 a month for unlimited downloads. The files are in MP3 format, no strings attached and encoded @ 128kbs. Not the best encoding, but for most of my tastes(Metal, Techno, and Comedy) that really isn't a problem. I wouldn't want to download a symphony recording at that bitrate, but others is acceptable.

I was looking around and found that I could get about 20 George Carlin albums, a whole slew of metal bands that I liked, and hours, upon hours of techno music that would make good background tunes for work and working out.

All in all, I figure that there is probably about 50 some odd albums that I wouldn't mind downloading, and that was just what I uncovered in 15 minutes of browsing around.

Has anyone subscribed to this service? If so, what sort of download speeds have you noticed?

Frankly, I just got sick of putting up with crappy download speeds, and poorly encoded MP3's from "alternative" sources. $15 a month is WAAAAY less than I would spend on CD's anyway, so it's not like I'm out any money.
