Beautiful game, even on my crap fart-dust ancient system. Just curious on how many people here still have or play this game? And, What do you think of it?

I'm enjoying it even if all eye candy turned down a bit.
 
I've finished it three times but I'll definitely be replaying it very soon. The graphics still look superb and the Merc phrases are hilarious.

I enjoyed it very much and still looks fantastic for such an "old" game. The new HDR effects give the game a nice new sheen but unfortunately it doesn't work with my new ATI card (boo!).
 
It's been a month or two but I'll defenitely be playing it again. Although it's not the best game, there isn't a single flaw with it.
 
Yup. IIRC, this game has made it through 3 fresh installs. Only game I've ever played through more than once. Think I've gone through 3x. Graphics were so ahead of their time. Still one of the best FPS out there (mainly for outdoor environments) and it is 3 years old. If CRYSIS only brings a little upgrade from Farcry it will be incredible IMO.

Although it's not the best game, there isn't a single flaw with it

And this is a pretty accurate statement. While the AI isn't great, it really doesn't detract from the game that much.
 
I beat it at first with a radeon 9700 and a non-flat screen crt. Now I'm replaying it with an x850xt and an lcd...man, worlds different!!!

Surely you must be joking? It has the best AI ever done in any game besides F.E.A.R and even so i would only consider them rivals.
 
Never finished the game and I want to... unfortunately I don't know where my discs are atm. I'm pretty sure I lent them to somebody and forgot to get them back.
 
game was fun for me, I didn't much like the Trigents(sp?) they looked pretty crappy and didn't do sh!t to scare me. Also, as good as the AI is, it seems kinda flawed in the point I could be hiding behind a barrel with 2 Mercs standing 5 feet away chit-chatting. I pop up with my Desert Eagle and blast one in the head. He goes flying back and the other doesn't seem scared, and just says "is everything okay?" They don't seem to respond well to noise, you could shoot a generator a guy was standing right next to, he won't hear the gun fire, won't hear the explosion of the generator, and apparently can't see or smell the smoke from the generator as it burns 🙂 AI was still pretty slick.

FEAR's AI is overrated. The majority of the time anything cool happens (a desk being pushed as, going prone under a collapsed bookcase, etc) it's scripted.

HL Opfor has the best AI around.

How? I don't remember it being much different from the original aside from being able to command marines but even then it's still inferior to the AI of Far Cry.

farcry's AI was good, but the PC cheated by having the enemies shoot incredibly accurately. OpFor was good in that the black-ops responded more to what I was doing.

I had more fun with opfor than with farcry.

I can't recall the black-ops (those were the ninjas, right?) doing anything so fascinating. They just popped out of a dark area, shot you a couple of times, and ran away. The marines in Far Cry weren't so accurate anyways, aside from the damned rocket snipers.
