Because I do. I rather play WC3 than Guild Wars or CS.

If anyone wants to play, my account is ItmPls@Azeroth.

DotA!

BTW, please don't play this game if you're a jerk. It already has enough retards.

Another BTW: It takes weeks or months to get good.

My name is modnar1101 on east.

It doesnt take weeks or months to get good at Dota it takes like 3 games of Dota to get good if you have any intelligence at all. The game is pretty simplistic you just have to learn what abilities are overpowered and what items to get in what order. It also helps if someone actually tells you about the secret shop.

I'm going to make a map better than DotA -- if only I had a suitable terrain / terrainer.

I don't know how you can say that, given there are around 70 heroes and 70 items. If you can learn each hero's and item's capabilities in three games, you should be professionally gaming.

I gave it to my cousin, and I play it when I visit him. I don't think ladder games blow, I think they're pretty addictive. Especially with the level thing.
Anyway, I play custom maps too, my favorites are Hero X Siege, Hero Line Wars remix, Battleships, and sometimes Dota.

Each team gets about thirty different custom heroes to choose from, and each player on the team gets one. At the top-right and bottom-left corners there are bases for each team, and pathways leading to each base. Constant streams of soldiers spawn out of the bases and try to destroy the other team. First team to destroy the other team's town hall wins. It's probably the best custom map out of all of them.

While there are 70 items to be had, many of them are near worthless in comparison to the good ones, many of them are continued power upgrades of an item with similiar abilities.

I am not saying that my account is very good, because it is not -nearly all of my human solos are tower rushes just for fun and im constantly trying new strategies but go ahead and stats me Modnar1101. If you are good at wc3:tft youll do well in DOTA. If you can micro, time abilities, and if you are smart enough to look at a good player and see what items theyre using and ask a few questions, you can get good at the game in 3 games. I was doing average on the very first game I played half of the people are newbies anyway.

just got done with a game

dota is nearly ruined by leavers nowadays

and to the guy who says he's good after 3 times...i disagree. Or maybe your good and my good differ somewhat. There're quite a few nuances to the game and learning the heroes and items is essential, mainly to counter opponents

That's really not true. Almost every one of the recipe items has its use on the proper character. And there are a lot of different and valid ways you can build the same character depending on who you're facing and what strategy you choose to employ (ex: hero killing vs lane pushing).

You may be able to get good at owning newbs with one or two simple (read: Clinkz or the Drow) heroes in three games (I originally started with the Drow and did fine by simply not dying), but you simply can't get the skills necessary to compete with the better players, let alone know what their heroes are capable of. Simply learning the heroes takes a large amount of time, let alone figuring out the subtle nuances of the game.

That said, I agree that ladder players will have an easier time picking it up than those of who refuse to play regular WCIII. If you're already familiar with the fundamentals of items, stats, and hero combat, that's simply one less hurdle you have to clear. But that hardly makes it quick and easy.
