Anyone still play the BEST UT?

For a game FAR superior to Quake 3 (which was released pretty much at the same time), I decided that it deserved it's own worship thread.

Faces CTF + Insta-Gib = Hours and Hours of fun

I fear it will be a visual wonder and shallow gameplay. I see it as Epics showcase to sell engine licenses more so than a great game (Similar to Unreal 2). UT 2008 or whatever is next should be top notch though.

UT2k3 and UT2k4 were pretty much the same thing.

UT99 was pretty fun though, but, like all FPSs, it loses its fun factor in about 10minutes. 20 at a LAN party. Run and gun, Quake style shooters just ain't fun.

They were supposed to be the same. UT2003 was a rushed out version of 2004. They are both on the same Unreal engine, so they both look/play the same, just 2003 has less features.

After getting UT2003 and playing it maybe half a dozen times before deciding it sucked, I didn't waste my money on UT2004. Besides, BF1942 was out then.

Wish people still played, hard to find populated servers these days. Still such a great game, graphics look great and they are easy to run at max detail.

I used to LOVE playing low grav CTF at facing worlds with Runes...can't remember if they were called runes or not, something like that anyways, that was fun.

Only thing i didn't like about UT was that teleporter device, people just kept teleporting everywhere, it was real annoying.

occasionally...it runs too damn fast on my A64....which is funny cause when i was right in to playing UT I only had a K6-3+ 550 and it ran pretty ordinary on that...luckly I had a Voodoo 5 or it could have been horrible

UT (any version) is the only deathmatch FPS I'll play. I love telefragging people - there's nothing more satisfying.

I don't have it It was good tho to hone sharpshooting skills on instagib - the AI cheats so bad in UT2004 it isn't even funny

That was a fun game. I liked the low gravity maps where you were running around about the size of a mouse in rooms, where you go through walls and secret passages. I loved the sniper rifle, and that thing that shot spinning disks.. Good times back in the day.

I was good back in the day (2 years ago).

I still love the original UT.

Maybe I should fire that puppy up.

i still play ut99 like its cool. was a huge dom fan and some ctf maps, but populated servers are hard to come by so ive just been playing a lot of dm deck.
