Anyone still play Novalogic voxel-era games?

My brother and I were big fans in the late 90s (he loved the Comanche series, I dug the early Delta Forces). A few months back, I picked up the Boot Camp pack for $5 on Steam. It features a handful of Delta Force games. I had the chance to play through a few levels on a couple of the games and I still really enjoyed them. Gotta love the voxel! The voxel before Minecraft made it cool, haha. I know the maps may seem sparse to some folks and I’m sure the games are dated in many other ways but it still hooks me. Back in the day, I had picked up a Novalogic 3-pack which included Armored Fist 3 (tank sim), F-22 Lightning 3 and the original Delta Force. Even before picking up Boot Camp, I would still fire up DF1 as frequently as Duke 3D and Quake 1 – those three have remained some trusty standbys. I may have played a demo or two of their Blackhawk Down series but never really got into those.

In a future Steam sale (most likely the winter or summer sale, which feature widespread publisher/package discounts all around) – I plan to pick up the Machines of War pack, which includes other Novalogic sims. Well, enough about my Novalogic love, I was wondering if anyone else has fond memories or still plays any of their games. I searched here and found a few threads on Joint Ops/Angel Falls from a couple of years back, but I’m not very familiar with their more recent offerings.

What happened to Novalogic??

I had been waiting for years for the sequel to Joint Operations, but there were no updates years ago and surely by now it not going to come out.

It would be great to have a basically updated version of Joint Ops with good anti-cheat.

I think they where going to come out with the game called angel falls and it appears to be vaporware. I miss bhd so much and even delta force was pretty fun. I wonder how they are even making money any more? Is it all threw steam?

I remember when Novalogic was first talking about the integrated battlefield, that's infantry tanks and jets all in same multiplayer game. We've come a long way! Novalogic just hasn't come with us.

I still have BHD on my LAN machines but haven't actually played it for about a year or so. Will have to fire up some old Delta Force & Tachyon: The Fringe in the next few days though.

In the latter 2000's they released Xtreme & Xtreme 2 which hark back to the older Delta Force style, although they weren't as good IMO. I would really like to know myself if they're working on anything else or are pretty much defunct.

Some fo the Delta Force games were great alright but the last one I got Delta Force X or something like that was atrocious. Unforgivably bad, haven't been near them since. Some great memories of the early games though, great fun.

Commanche 4 was good too.

I loved Delta Force. The huge maps were awesome and no stupid out of bounds area like BF. I religiously played DF1 through Land Warrior and then Joint Ops.

It was a sad time in gaming for me when Novalogic and Jane's died off.

My brother and I were big fans of NovaWorld (?), their server network. I remember F-22 running very well online back in the day. He was also very excited about the potential integration of the Novalogic sims – we would talk about all of the possibilities. And then, bam, Battlefield 1942 came out, incorporating all of those things in a WW2 setting. BF1942 is the only BF game I really enjoyed but I always wished that Novalogic would’ve thrown their hat in the ring.

Is Tachyon: The Fringe a good space sim? I only played a few minutes of the demo years ago (probably downloaded off of avault or happypuppy, haha). Seemed neat but never went back.

They're still in business but their next game (Delta Force: Angel Falls) has reached Duke Nukem levels of vaporware. The last I heard (which I believe was last May), they were looking at using the Crysis engine. My guess is that they don't have the money to finish it.

I don't know how they stay in business but I did hear that at least at one point, they did business with the US military for simulations.

I played everything that NovaLogic produced starting with F-22 Raptor. Loved all their stuff when I was young.

Comanche: Maximum Overkill was one of my favorites games back in the day. One of the few I had back then running on my Dell 486.
