Anyone still play FFXI?

I canceled my account a long time ago, I tried reactivating it, I get nowhere in PlayOnline. My PlayOnline ID gives me an incorrect password error, and I can't register a new ID either(says the registration code is invalid). Any ideas?

They delete characters after so long, though your account should still be available. Call tech support. Also, check the playonline website, they recently did a thing where you could bring back your old characters.

I quit this time last year. Ive never been tempted to go back.

Tech support seems the best option here since your account should still be alive.

The recovery of deleted characters were only of characters that you yourself deleted... but does not include characters that were deleted due to inactive accounts: http://www.playonline.com/ff11us/polnews/news1411.shtml

The problem i think with Deeko is that he cancelled the actual account... if you do that, you can't come back to the game... you have to buy another copy of FFXI and create another account. If you wanted to quit FFXI, but wanted the account to stay alive, all you needed to do was cancel the Content IDs, because the fees were based on that.

Q. Should I cancel my Playonline ID?

A. Never. And here's the reason why, you get charge base on your Content ID (character) and not on your Playonline ID. If you cancel your Playonline ID, it's like cancelling the game entirely, if you do that and down the road you decide to try FFXI again, you will have to buy another copy of FFXI and reinstall it. Only cancel Playonline ID if you are 100% sure of never ever trying FFXI again. Remember that it doesn't cost a thing to continue to have SquareEnix store your Playonline ID. It's only the Content ID is where the monthly bill comes from. If you accidentally cancel your Playonline ID then you have 3 months to reactivate if before it's completing gone. Best to leave your Playonline ID inside SqaureEnix server.

Do you remember how you did it? Because i did the same thing... i thought i only cancelled my FFXI account, but in fact it was my PlayOnline account.

I remembered that if you use the Cancel Account option, that cancels PlayOnline. To just 'cancel' FFXI, you either needed to delete each FFXI character manually, which removes that content ID... or you had to go into the subscription mode, and manually move all the content ID into inactive. That just stops any payments (because you don't have any content ID), but doesn't do any cancellations at all.

It's been a few years, but i 'cancelled' my account for a few weeks before realizing that it was going to be nuked in 3 months, so reactivated it, and sold the account.
