I stopped playing COH back in 2005. I was curious how much has changed and what it's like know. I was thinking of jumping back into playing with a friend of mine (who has never played).

Any thoughts?

Also, I know they are quite random with trial codes. Does anyone have one I could let my friend use?

They have released 14 day trials that your friend should be able to download from Fileplanet. This has been available for a few months, so there are quite a bit of newbs at the lower and mid levels.

As far as changes...there have been a few "Issues" released in the last couple of years. With the latest I8, they implemented Veteran Rewards. Which basically gives you different powers, costume pieces, or other things based on the amount of time you played. One of the rewards is access to wings for your toon. If you reactivate your old account, your toon will still be available at whatever point you left off and you will get your veteran rewards according to the amount of time you originally had that account active. It goes in 3 month increments.

A few other minor changes have gone into effect here and there, but I can't recall all of them. It's pretty much the same game overall. They now have scanner mssions that have a lot of new content. You can get scanner missions from a detective in each zone, kind of like the newspaper missions from CoV. They have also added a lot of content in Pocket D where you can run missions with Villains. Giant Monsters tend to spawn more often also. And of course there have been several adjustments to the powers...nerfs and whatnot.

Another big change is the "Faultline" zone. It used to be a destroyed zone from an earthquake if you recall. Now it is being rebuilt and most of the zone is a normal city zone, but you can see that it is under construction. There are a lot of new missions in this zone as well as Arch Villains.

With the next Issue, or release, they are implementing an Auction House called "Wentworths." Heroes will be able to buy and auction off Salvage to build up their supergroup bases. I'm not totally filled in on the prupose of the auction house, but there's tons of info on the website.

All in all, it's the same game only it has been fine tuned here and there. I think it is still fun to play. It's still different from most other MMO's out there.

Cool thanks. We got tired of WOW a while back and EVE Online was fun, but wasn't really made for doing missions together as groups (which is what we wanted).

I still think it is a lot of fun to play. My friends and I are keeping our accounts active until something better comes along. Right now we're holding out for Age of Conan, but we're not completely sold on it yet.

I've tried out the LOTRO Beta, and it's not really my cup of tea. We also considered Vanguard, but that seems to be a very buggy game from a lot of the reviews. Dam...lol, it's tough to find a good MMO these days :).

Yup, same game. Gets old after a few months because there's just no depth.

If you haven't tried CoV, I recommend going that route. Only support power sets are secondaries so everybody is called on to deal maximum damage most of the time. The mastermind class is insanely fun as well.....easily the greatest class ever created for an MMORPG.

The physics engine added ragdoll physics to the destructible environments in mayhem missions and on mobs when you finish them off. Just adds to the "fun" factor of costumed freaks rapidly unleashing massive superpowers.
