Anyone spot DVD/CD-burner drives in retail yet?

I want to hold out for the second-generation being that I'm not into DVD on the PC right now. However, if they are affordable and burn faster than 12X then I may be ready to adopt one. Has anyone seen them out yet?

Good morning,

Not trying to make Shooters look um, misinformed (trying to be nice 🙂) but today's BestBuy ad has the Pioneer A-03 DVR for $800 (799.99) OUCH! Unless you've got money coming out your butt or just want bragging-rights reeeeeeealy bad, I say don't get this now. By January 2002, this drive will be half the price it is now. I purchased an Imation 12x10x32 CDRW back in January when they first came out. I paid $230 for it. They are now $130 :| Nature of the beast.

800 bucks isn't that bad if u require that kinda capacity...if u're just an average joe blow and/or chimpanzee, i'd stick to cd-rw...

it takes about 30min to record an entire 4gb DVD at 2X, and longer for lead in/out and TOC writing...

I wasn't talking DVD-burner, but CD-burner. The newer CD-burners are supposedly going to be able to read DVD, too.

Computers4Sure has the HP 9900ci combo drive for $119 after $50 rebate. Specs are 12x10x32 / 8x DVD. Here's the link.
