Anyone sleep with a mouth guard?

I just got a mouth guard to sleep with as I tend to grind my teeth at night.

How long dies it take to get used to it?

Also, do you clean it everyday with a toothbrush? It seems kind of rank in the morning.

headache!=migraine

I have never, ever, EVER heard of anyone getting a migraine from or experienced a migraine from grinding teeth at night. I don't use a mouth guard, but sometimes I feel like I should. My mom used to for years, but she never got a migraine -just bad headaches.

I used one for a while because apparently you could hear my teeth grinding at night from every room in the house. I never really did get used to it, because if you wake up with dry mouth it's not going to feel comfortable.

I'd soak it in some listerine rather than toothpaste to get it clean.

Can that help with TMJ, do you know?

I believe that there are special ones for TMJ, but I'm not sure how they are different from the one I have other than cost (~$80 vs ~$300).

I grind my teeth too but still deal with it. I think it runs in my dad's side of the family for some reason. I'm not sure if I would want to sleep with a mouthguard though - maybe some day it will come to that if my dentist sees evidence of toof damage.
