anyone shop for lcd tv's recently?

just looking for some advice... I really know nothing about the market 😱 I've had the same 3 crt tv's for like 5-6 years now, but I'm looking to replace them with a 30-40" lcd in the living room and something in the 23" area for my bedroom and office.

anyone have any suggestions on what I should be looking for or where to find the best bang for the buck?

26" Olevia in the bedroom was cheap and looks nice. Had it for over a year and already getting too small

CRTs still have a better picture than LCDs, so don't be in a hurry.

my big problem with crt's is the weight of a bulky +36" set.

the tv I had in my living room before I moved (sold it to a coworker before I moved... I don't recall the exact size off the top of my head, but I want to say 42") was at a level where I physically couldn't carry the thing by myself, and I'm not exactly a weakling... I lug around 50 pound servers and storage arrays all day 😛 but it was annoying. any time I wanted to rearrange furniture, I'd have to beg a friend to come over and help me move the thing.

Awesome deal, we've owned that LCD for about 5 months as our "bedroom TV".

I believe it runs from the 2nd-22nd. Found the deal over at Slickdeals. I may have to pick one up.

I'm waiting for 37" 1080p LCD's to drop to $699-ish then I'll gift this to a friend or family member.

I like Fry's $599 37" Olevias. Good size for the bedroom and a great price.

I'm considering waiting for it too; I just don't know if I'll really enjoy the benefits of it to justify the $200 higher cost. Won't have anything other than OTA HD channels, and 720p/1080i may be enough for my media PC. Maybe if I cut back on some stuff I'll save up the money and wait for a set like you.

show me a 42" crt

I have a 57" Sony rear projection CRT that has a fantastic picture.

crt tube and crt projection look completly different. i'll take my wide viewing angle, 45lb lcd over a giant, snowy crt projection anyday

If you can find one I highly suggest one of the new Sharp Aquos LCDs.(They just came out in March)

They just came out with a 37" that is a full 1080P I got one and it surpasses anything I have looked at so far either plasma or LCD in that size range. the model is LC-37D62U, they also make a 42 and a 50 I think. It has a 6ms response time so there is no ghosting what so ever.

If you get a chance I recommend you check them out. I paid 1400.

If only that was $899 or so, I'd all over that.
