Anyone sent a laptop off to be reflowed?

Hello everyone,

Years since I've been on.

My wife's laptop (nvidia gpu) has the dreaded black screen of death. After some research I tried reflowing the board with a heatgun and a stack of quarters to hold the heat. Everything worked well for a few days then it went back to black. I guess I didn't do it long enough.

The laptop is nice enough to spend $100 to get it fixed by someone that will do it correctly.

So my question to everyone is have you had it done and by when company?

Thanks and happy holidays!

and thats why you dont buy nvidia laptop GPUs.... crazy fall rates.

With a discrete gpu for a pc, you can "bake" your nvidia card in the oven if needed (its a nvidia thing).
How the hell does one do that with a laptop though?

Had I known that at the time I would have probably skipped it, but it was a good buy at the time (under $400 2 years ago). Has good specs and still worth fixing.
