Anyone seen the movie 'The World's Fastest Indian' with Anthony Hopkins?

If you haven't I'd highly recommend it. I saw a few minutes of it a week ago and it looked pretty cool but I watched it this morning and was blown away. What a great story.

I'll just post a brief synopsis I found online about the film:
There unfolded a most delightful story about Burt, an instantly rather charming eccentric old character (superbly played by Anthony Hopkins), who built an old 1920's motorcycle in his garden shed. He then attempts to break the world-land speed record on a machine designed to originally travel about 90mph. The plot develops into a most charming and beautiful story of Burt's determination to get to the race event and the journey is as much of the story as the event itself. Obviously I shall not divulge the result or the events that happen, suffice it to say that Burt becomes an instantly likable character by everyone he meets. Burt's charm shines through and he takes everyone he meets at face value and welcomes all with a smile and a shake of the hand. He meets various "characters" along the way who he befriends like long-lost friends, which is a fresh in these days of prejudice and alienation. This was a very innocent time in 1967 for a New Zealander going to America, and there is one of the films most delightful and charming moments when Burt realises all is not quite what it seems when he meets one certain character......... MAKE SURE YOU SEE THIS FILM, it will have you laughing, crying and will uplift you, which is quite uncommon in these days in the movies of blood, killing, violence and savagery. I would be very surprised if Anthony is not at least nominated for his starring role as Burt.

Truly a great movie and one worth watching.:thumbsup:

Definitely a great film. Especially if you know anything about the story.
My dad loved it and he is not a movie person, although he has been in motorcycles since the 60s

Nope, not yet. It was on my netflix list...but i cancelled before i got to it.

It's second in my queue now. Netflix said that I'd like it, so I'll give it a shot.

if netflix says so...then you HAVE to see it.

I so didn't want to see this movie but rented it for the movie I wanted to see was gone and was in the mood to watch something, what a total shocker it was. I was expecting it to suck judging it from the previews but man was I wrong, 20 minutes into it you couldn't pry me from the tv set, then the ending just freakin kicked all forms off ass, I thought he was, you know, don't want to give it away too much, but they played that very well.

Yes very much agree everyone should see this movie, well played, and you dont really have to be a car/motorcycle nut to appreciate it.

Dammit... With all these people adding this movie to their Netflix queue, it's going to take forever for me to get my copy!

They've been airing it on DirecTV in HD lately. They have full length movies uncut and uninterupted on one of their HD channels.

Funny, just watched this movie about 2 weeks ago. Had never heard of it, it was pretty damn good.

EDIT: The drag race on the beach was the best... 🙂
