Anyone seen/have the movie Leon: The Professional?

It sounds like a really good movie, is it worth buying? Also... from reading around on DVDTalk I guess certain versions have a crappy 5.1 track so does anyone know which is the better version to buy, the regular one or the superbit? thanks 🙂

excellent movie. one of the better ones out there. also try to get the original version of it. i believe the version that was distributed in the US had some key scenes removed.

Is this the one where he takes care of the little girl too ? I thought the movie was just named "The Professional" but according to IMDB it isn't.

Make sure you get Leon, and not the Professional - as mentioned, the Professional has some scenes removed, Leon is the original version.

okay, by original you mean not the superbit right? I'm assuming the regular version and the superbit were the only US releases. I could be wrong though, I'm just going by what I've seen on DVDTalk.

The Professional was the name they released it in the US. originally it was just Leon.

The only results that show up on amazon are Leon: The Professional and Leon: The Professional superbit. So is the first one the one to get?

Is that the French movie with the president of some african nation being the bad guy? If so - awesome movie. Loved the music too.

I thought the movie was awesome, the girl in that movie turns out to be a hot chick now all the guys drool over

one of my favorite films of all-time.

yes, get the leon: the professional international uncut version. its the best version out. there was an early pressing that had a defective 5.1 track, but that has since been fixed and finding that defective version is a task within itself. the superbit doesnt have the extra's, but it has higher video bitrate for a better picture and a dts track. the only problem with the superbit is that the bass on the dts track is lacking, a problem the international uncut version doesnt have (heh, and it doesnt even have dts, just the superb 5.1 track). so thats why i suggest the international uncut version. plus, it has all the scenes that were cut out from the states release when it came out under the title 'the professional'.

edit: in fact, the video on the superbit isnt even much of a step up from the international uncut version. usually if a movie is available in superbit and i want to add it to my collection, ill buy the superbit (i think i have around 6-7), but for this one, i passed.

no. it is. the hacked to pieces version released in the states theatrically is just called 'the professional'. the uncut, full version is called 'leon' or 'leon: the professional'. the superbit is the full uncut version. 3 copies of this dvd exist.

No, the Superbit has the full movie. Check Talkdvd.

ok sorry, was a bit confused 😛 so the non-superbit is the best choice?

That depends. The Superbit is good if image quality is paramount to you, and you have the big screen to see the difference.

The non-SB version is good if you enjoy DVD extras. I never watch them, so I always pick SB.
