After a certain point, having extra RAM is only useful if you're using LOTS of programs at the same time, or working with huge multimedia files. Then you'll notice good performance benefits, when your computer can just use the RAM instead of a swapfile.

These results clearly show that 128Mb is not enough ram for a modern gaming system, for a high end gaming PC, 256Mb should be considered the minimum. Although not required by any games today, it won't be long until the dreaded 'requires 256Mb RAM' appears on the sides of boxes in a retail store near you.

but then i'll pay for speed increases of even 5% provided its above what i am already upgrading (hope this makes sense)
