Anyone see socket 939 coming out in laptops in the near future?

I was just wondering if anyone had some insight into when/if AMD laptops will come out in a dual-channel memory flavor (socket 939...or maybe even M2). Would it be when the dual-core mobile CPU's come out? I need to buy a notebook, but I will hold off for something better if I can get a really nice laptop after 6 months wait.

Anyone have some insight into the next 6 months of AMD mobile CPU's and laptop manufacturers?

If you keep thinking that you can get a better lappy in 6 months you will keep doing this for ever... Buy to your max budget now and just hang ontight ....

Both say socket 754.

Anyway...What I really want is to get a barebones system and stick in a gig of memory and either a dual-core (low energy consumption) opteron or whatever chips AMD will make available for the new socket. I think the turion has come down to a reasonable price (I've been waiting for this) and I'm ready to buy my lappy now.

Unless anyone can give me some more insight into AMD's mobile processor future, I think I'm set...

HP V6000 and Compaq R4000 are supposed to be based on RS480 and Socket 939 . . . (supports up to 4000+) Mine though seems to be some weird hybrid of 754 & 939 (939 without dual channel ram)

I think you need to look things up a little a dual core opteron on a laptpop, LOL

All Turion's are S754.

There are some A64/Sempron laptops that appear to be S939, but no dual channel and no confirmation. There are a couple HUGE notebooks with A64 X2's & FX-55's, specifically from Rock Direct I know.

There will be no "official" S939 laptops other than the monster ones. AMD is releasing a new socket for mobile, I think S2 or something? Different than M2. Dual core Turion's are expected Q106. I wouldn't expect to see an X2 or dual core FX55 or dual core Opteron in anything but a $3K+ beast of a notebook.
