Anyone see Running Scared?

He isn't winning any oscars anytime soon, but there weren't any, "Dude, I almost had you!" lines in the movie...

I'd recommend the movie to anyone who likes action movies and formula driven hollywood writing. It seemed to me that the writes sat down and thought something along the following lines, "We need to make a violent cool hip action movie that has EVERYTHING anyone ever thought was cool about a Tarantino movie in it. We need:

lots of guns...
a drug deal gone bad
liberal use of the word n!gger legitimized by the notion that such characters would say stuff like that in real life...
A snitch
The Mafia - but we need the italian AND russian mafias. One mafia is simply not enough
Cops - a dirty cop, goes without saying
undercover agents
at least one crazy low level flunky who is close to insane
pedophiles - let's make them REALLY effing sick ones
John Wayne references
the hero must be frantically trying to save himself.
A surprise plot twist
A screamingly obvious plot twist made possible by a boys mother blowing herself up
a corny wrap-up to an otherwise entertaining if surreal movie

I am sure I missed something. I enjoyed the movie, but I was amazed at how far the writers went to make sure as many "cool and hip" plot elements were incvluded in the movie...

Shens!

Haven't seen it but I have yet to see him pull of a decent role.

But the movie does look interesting.

oh yeah a few more things:

a torture scene using a never before seen technique involving hockey pucks
a scene where things go bad, everyone starts shooting and almost noone lives (think LS&2SB)
the hero driving a perfectly restored classic car and parking it on the street in bad neighborhoods in every scene
Latino and Carribean gangsters (have to ensure every demographic of villain is properly represented!)

Oh, I thought you were talking about Running Scared with Billy Crystal. That was a great movie!

Running Scared

OW NO.... That man just lost on Jeopardy because he did not know what Deuteronomy was... OWW NO.... Mother, could I please have some more petit marshmallows for my hot cocoa? Oh, gotto go BYE!

I love that movie...

That pedophile scene was one of the creepiest thing ever in a movie. It was subtle in the sense that they didn't show anything, thankfully, but its implications and what they didn't show absolutely made it.

I really liked the fairy tale aspect of it all, like Goldilocks stumbling into the woods..very unique, and very well done.
