Anyone see "Pirates of the Caribbean II" yet?

It's good. Definitely worth the ticket price. And I'm picky, since the last movie I had seen in theaters was Batman Begins.

Pretty good...although a little long, and had a couples scenes where it was kinda ridiculous, i.e. Jack falls through 3 or 4 bridges from hundreds of feet in the air, lands on his back, then gets up.

I don't think it was quite as good as the first one, but then it was all brand new, and now you sort of expect some things...... plot got kind of thick, but overall it was definitly fun........Can't wait for the third one...!!!

Agreed.

No, but I did go see Superman Returns and the theatre was packed full of people dressed as pirates :Q. I asked a pirate girl if she was there to see Superman Returns but she said she was there to see Pirates of the Caribbean.

but did it deserve the D+ entertainment weekly gave it?

screw the reviews. IMO it was a great fun summer movie. some great continuation from #1 as well. i will watch #3. the beach/island fight scene was long and fun (yes its far fetched but still fun)

135 million at the box office beating spiderman2 for best opening. the critics were 110% ignored on this one.

It was great. All the reviews really tore into it so badly I didn't want to go so my g/f bought the tickets and told me we were going to Superman....b!otch! Anyways when I finally got in there and realized what happened and that I couldn't leave I actually liked it alot.

My review
the good:

Davey Jones is a sweet character. Well acted and well thought out.

Cpt Jack shows his dark side alot more, really adds depth to him.

Alot of very funny moments.

Kierra Knightly nuff said!

Plot is engaging.

Lots of action.

Much less Disney feel, some serious sexual inuendos and gore.

the bad:

Perhaps too many threads in the plot.

The first movie seems to be mostly separate from this one in the story line while the third movie will obviously share the exact same story. That kinda buggs me.

Some cheesy Disney moments....Depp falls what 30 stories and stands right up?

Action from minute 1 to the end, you never get a break to digest what just happened.

Overall I would give it B+ to an A. The only part that really bugged me is that the second and third movie are really 1 story, the first movie is just kind of a prologue to this movie that has minimal tie ins but shares the same characters. I really wish they had all been the same story (a la LoTR) or more separate stories that have general ties (Star Wars Trilogy).

Meaning, it was made for people with ADD. If it is anything like Transporter II, I will pass.

I liked it. I heard it was AWESOME before I went to go see it, so my expectations were too high.

I laugh at all of you clowns though. You are worried about Jack falling 30 stories and walking away? Have you ever seen a huge sea creature attack a ship? Or how about undead monkeys? Forsaken hammerhead sharks that speak english? A still beating heart inside a treasure chest?

If you want realism, go watch A Simple Life.

Personally, I liked it. There did seem to be a few more darker moments than the first but the humor was great and the story was good as well.

The reviewers are hard on it because it is a clearly very commercial movie. This however does not prevent the public from enjoying it greatly. I take almost everything film critics say with a dump truck of salt.

I about sh!t a brick when I saw the estimates of 135mil for the 3 day gross.
Movie theatres are clearly a dying breed as so many have recently claimed  .

The beginning 30 minutes absolutely sucked. Horrible lines. Poor actors, makes them look bad. It picked up though. Lots of fun cinematography and stunts. Funny jokes here and there. Not nearly as good as the first one, but still enjoyable. I liked it more than Superman.

No, meaning that had so much plot to put in that there wasn't a breather like in the first one. Seems like movies 2 and 3 might have made a better movies 2 3 and 4 so we got some breaks or just make the movie longer...though I hate really long movies....anyways it was good. Imagine James Bond without the girl scenes.
