Anyone see any Hyundai Genesis cars out and about?

Saw a 4.6 sedan today. It just says genesis without hyundai, and the flaggy thing reminds me of a bentley or rolls or something or whatever one of those has flaggy things.

Anyway I've seen only 2-3 in person.

I see them around here on a pretty regular basis .... Not common like Benzes or Jags, probably about as common as Porsche's around here, and much more common than Lotus, Ferrari, or Lambo's. (see usually 1 or 2 every day)

people who pay 30k+ for a car won't be seen in a hyundai. that's pretty much all it boils down to.

Most of the people in my neighborhood who have one are Korean.

See, only Koreans and poor people buy Korean cars.

Nobody in my neighborhood is Korean and there isn't a single Hyundai on my street. 😛

Is that the reason why Hyundai recently surpassed Ford and Honda to become fourth in sales?

that must mean there's a lot of poor ppl or koreans in the US.

Koreans make up 0.5% of the population in the US. The more affluent Koreans I know (go to church with) drive Mercedes, BMW, Lexus. However there's been a couple that transferred over to Genesis. Poor people or not, being 4th in sales doesn't change the fact that they're making money. Toyota, GM, etc. lost revenue while Hyundai turned a profit.

Not really. Only few, really few Koreans buy Korean cars, because we (I am Korean too 😛) all know how Hyundai is stealing from Korean in Korea abusing 70% market share Hyudai/Kia combined. (Go Korea and spend $ 35k for Sonata I4. No V6 offered. Korean gov protects them, so forget about anti-trust) Most Koreans just sick of Hyundai, and that's why you see most Koreans driving Japanese or German.

Major factor driving Hyundai's recent sales figure must be those promotions and from economy cars. I don't think it's from Genesis as I remember reading Korean PR by Hyundai saying Genesis is not sold as many as they anticipated in US.

Oh BTW, Lee is top 3 Korean last name along with "Kim" & "Park", but it actually should be written as "Yi." (And Kim should be Ghim, and Park is really Bak 😛)

oh ok.
just that i knew koreans and they were very proud of their culture but wouldn't drive hyundai's because they were known as POS so they drove BMW's.
some also wouldn't touch japanese cars because of WW2.

Well, yeah, we might be proud of culture or electronics like Samsung and LG, but definately not Hyundai for most of us. I wouldn't even consider buying it either, unless someone giving me for free. 🙂

We kinda have a mind that German car is like made by God. About Japanese car, there may be few haters like you've met, but most just admires Japanese car just not as much as German's. And we think Korean cars are POS. How irony, isn't it?

Made by God? Um, you're exaggerating a bit there. The older Koreans (golfers) like BMW and Mercedes but they just as much like Lexus but it's more to do with the brand name / cache than how the car actually performs. Also, a lot of my dad's golfing buddies who drive these type of cars are talking positively about the Genesis and a couple even converted over.

I saw a Generis yesterday. It was sedan. Entry/middle management type dude was driving it. I remember thinking he was too young to drive an old geezer car like that.

Of course I am exaggerating. Car is just a car 😛

But if you talk to majority of Koreans in Korea who actually can't afford most of imported cars (or even Genesis for that matter), they have quite strong faith about German. Lexus is getting there, but not just yet.

Oh, and let's wait and see what car those converted over choose for their next car. Then we will have a better idea if it's just one time, or finally Hyundai builidng some loyalty from Korean.

There's a booger-green coupe at work, imo the front end on them is a let-down. I've only seen 2 sedans and they sort of just blended in with all the other anonymous 4-doors.

I've only seen maybe 2 of the sedans and 1 of the coupes. The sedan looks pretty nice but the coupe made me stop and do a double take... awesome looking car.

I haven't seen a single one around where I live (Sacramento, CA). I am planning on getting a Genesis coupe though in 2-3 years. My cars include 2005 Infiniti G35 coupe and 2006 Mazda3.

I agree with this brand strategy. I had said they should've at the very least changed their logo with the release of the updated Sonata which bested the Accord. Everyone still looks at them as the old typical crap Hyundai.

I know looks are very subjective, but IMHO the coupe is very bland. The sedan is somewhat bland too, but I think it looks better than the coupe (comapred to other cars in it's class).
