If it was me, I'd trade the domain name for a skyline.
Yeah actually I'd probably trade the domain for a loaded xterra and a new altima every two years for life. Back when domain registrations used to be free, I read about some kid who registered "Edys.com" (or however you spell that), then contacted Edy's and said he'd give it to them for a case of ice cream. I don't remember if they took his offer or not. Had I been running the company at the time, I would have, because a case of ice cream is waaay cheaper then a lawyer to fight to get it back.Originally posted by: sandigga

I didn't see this show, but is the guy's name even Nissan? He uses a month on the Hebrew calendar as proof, but I've read that the month is "Nisan".
Nissan rules. I love my 240sx.

Hey, I didn't see the report. But after my Ethics class, when we were learning about Internet Law a little, and name rights, that sort of stuff, I wrote to nissanmotors.com, and started this big thing with them about how they were just trying to screw the little guy, and it was too bad that they don't have the domain name. Anyways, they wrote me back TWICE, two personal responses.
I can paste them if you all want to read them, is still got them somewhere. Basically, when you go on the Nissan.com site, he has his side, and makes it look like Big Business is trying to rip him a new one. Then the way the Nissan wrote back to me, they were basically saying how they tried to compensate him, but he was being outrageous.
Lemme kno if you want them.

Dear *********,
Thank you for your e-mail to Nissan North America, Inc. We appreciate
your comments.
Here are some important facts for you to consider about this lawsuit.
Nissan North America, Inc. has been the registered trademark holder of
the name Nissan since 1959. A recent study shows that 92% of internet
users expect to find Nissan, the car company, at www.nissan.com. A court has
already found that Nissan Computer set out to confuse the public by
altering its web site to make it appear to be sponsored by Nissan North America,
Inc. and by diverting potential and actual Nissan North America, Inc.
customers, like you, to other automobile sites. Most importantly, the court found
that Nissan North America, Inc. is likely to prevail at trial.
Nissan North America, Inc. tried to resolve this dispute without suing
Mr. Nissan and we have no desire to put Nissan Computer out of business.
However, he demanded a $15 million payment to release the nissan.com
name. In good faith, Nissan North America, Inc. even reserved the name
nissancomputer.com for Nissan Computer so that it would have a web site
that matches its business name.
We hope you understand the steps we took to protect our valuable
trademark and to ensure that individuals like you would not be confused or misled
by the Nissan Computer web site.
If you have any further comments or questions, please feel free to
email.
Sincerely,
Shareta
