Anyone running XBMC try the new SuperTV plugin yet?

I'm running it on my ATV2 fed via NAS. It chokes on anything XviD but is otherwise awesome.

This appears to allow you to stream live TV to your XBMC device - is that an accurate assessment? I've got XBMC 11 running on a hacked AppleTV 2G and wouldn't mind getting some live TV going to supplement my archived media.

I think you have it basically right. I have not tried it yet, so I can't offer any kind of authoritative opinion.

Bigass thread here: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=125291

Looks very interesting. No way I'll get around to playing with it for a bit but I am interested to know what other people think

I love how the OP says "Everything else is explained on the Homepage." and the homepage pretty much explains nothing.

Going to that site I have no idea what this program does for XBMC. Three scrolling images that really don't explain anything.

Developers are typically rather awful at marketing. Makes you wish there was a volunteer service for open source projects so they could get professional help in areas where they're not so hot.

I might give it a try - but it seems like something that content providers will take notice of and prevent access (some, at least). Maybe not?

It seems to be a program guide built upon a database of "RTMP" video streams. For instance, the Canadian television network CTV has a number of streams that are set up to be displayed via its website, but that you could also inspect the source for and pull down using other devices, including one running XBMC.

It's possible that CTV and other networks may move from the relatively DRM free RTMP stream setup to protected streams, but that'd be a considerable investment for not much reason. So it's generally unlikely that these streams will be shut down.

Just tried it on ATV2. It's lot like LiveStreams video add-on. SuperTV plugin has potential but still has lot of bugs like not being able to restart the program after exiting. Quality seems better than LiveStreams though. Is this using STRM files? I have couple STRM files of foreign TV stations I play directly on XBMC since it's way faster to load one station rather than list of hundreds.

Wonder how long this will last. I do have XBMC, might give it a try though. One thing I need to do eventually is find a PC that supports power on through USB. Would be awesome if I can power it on with the remote. (the remote basically acts as a keyboard)
