I've been using it for a few weeks and I'm really enjoying it a great deal. The spam filtering is about 95.3% effective (as of my last calculation) and it's just a really nice client. I just noticed that there's not a single thread on here about Thunderbird, which I thought was a little odd.

Edit: I found a link that's titled "An Intro to Thunderbird" It's pretty good. Page 5 talks about setting up the Spam filters.

yea, it's pretty nice. although, it kinda seems like you'd be almost better off almost going straight to mozilla if you use thunderbird and firebird. at least that's what i'm doing now. using those two. they're great.

mmm .. Thunderbird is superior. I've always used OE because of hotmail. But these days i utilize more than my hotmail account and it's working great.

Firebird is awesome as well. I'm really happy to move away from some MS software.

I have a couple of hotmail accounts myself. I use a program called Hotmail Popper to use it with Thunderbird. I basically means that none of the messages are stored at Hotmail.com, so I can't read them when I'm away from my main computer, but that just means that they work like a normal pop3 email account. In anycase, I'm hoping to move away from Hotmail altogether because of security flaws and the fact that they don't use standard pop3 and imap protocols. And cause they suck.

I'm also downloading my Yahoo email account using YahooPOPs! (I used to have something like 12-14 email accounts. I'm down to 6 these days. Still pretty bad, but much better than before.)

I've been using Thunderbird for about 2 months after migrating from Eudora to the .01 release - I'm currently running .02. All in all it has the making of an excellent client and I enjoy watching it evolve and get better and better.

However, for the time being I wouldn't recommend it to mainstream users (i.e. my Girlfriend - she is still using Eudora on my machine) but for what it is - pre-beta software, it's excellent.

Long live Thunderbird and Firebird!
