Anyone running a website on/with a AS400?

My company is looking to migrate their current system to AS400. I'm the lead senior web developer and I would have to completely redesign our website that currently uses Oracle to use DB2 on the AS400. We using an off the shelf web solution now that we have to trash since it is not supported on an AS400 or connecting to DB2. Right now I'm proposing a Coldfusion or PHP solution running on IIS that would use the AS400 DB2 database on the backend. One of the IT managers is suggesting to use websphere directly on the AS400 and take advantage on the IBM system. I know nothing about websphere development. Is websphere efficient? Is it easy to develop? Reliable? I guess I'm just looking for reasons to shoot down the websphere idea. 🙂
