Anyone replaced a "non-replaceable" battery before and had calibration issues?

The battery on my Asus UX32VD is almost completely gone. The lappy runs for maybe 30 minutes on battery before it needs to be plugged back in.

A few months ago I bought a replacement battery on Amazon. I had to open the laptop, take some parts apart, etc to get at the battery and replace it. It's not one of those laptops where you just pop the battery in and out from the underside.

Anyway, the new battery would only charge up to 60% and the system would still shut down after an hour or so.

So - did I get a bad cell or is there some kind of BIOS battery calibration thing that I need to do? Battery run times and reported battery charge percentage were the same in Windows and Linux, so I don't think it's an OS thing.

Did you buy a genuine battery from ASUS? Or is this some random replacement you found on ebay or amazon from a reseller? If it's the latter, welcome to the world of third-party batteries.

Latter. The battery had good reviews on Amazon though.

I saw no reviews for this battery. WOW! For the prices I see ($80 and up) on those batteries I would call for a replacement or refund immediately.

My experience with Amazon returns (2 times) has been easy, fast, and excellent so give it a try. I have a button on previous orders for "return or replace". They have you print a UPS shipping label and go to a UPS dropoff center. I have 20 very close to me.
They credited my account as soon as I dropped off the items!
