I've got a 1999 Civic 4-door sedan and I just bought a pair of both Polk DB651 6.5" and DB691 6x9 speakers to replace my stock speakers, since I also just got and installed a Pioneer Premier 490IB.

Well, putting in the Pioneer was alright...but then I got to the speakers, and I'm a bit stumped. Both CC and Crutchfield claim the 6.5"s will fit into my front doors, but they just barely don't fit. Even if I did a little cutting, the screws don't match up with the speakers, and I'm at a loss as what to do with the stock wiring adapter. I'd assume I cut off the wiring adapter and just figure out which wire is positive/negative and try to get it onto the Polks...help?

I've done this before on a 98 and I had to cut the door trim behind the speaker. Then you have the issue of moisture behind the speaker. I think I some sort of barrier with sound deadening material.

To mount the speakers, you might have to drill new holes.

For the connection, I got wiring adapters. This is assuming that you're using the stock wiring.

Hope this helps.
