anyone remember when flash was called splash?

at least im pretty sure it was, i remember using splash, i think it was bought out and named flash

i only learned of flash, when it was already flash 3.0, and it would fit on a zip drive.

Aha, but a quick peek into Wikipedia shows that you're partially correct:

FutureSplash Animator (1995) - initial version of Flash with basic editing tools and a timeline

But...

Flash 1 (December 1996) - a Macromedia re-branded version of the FutureSplash Animator
