Anyone remember the NES Advantage?

god's own controller, indeed!

The NES Advantage feels small when you hold it with adult hands. This is the controller many of us grew up with, the arcade-style monster Nintendo released for the original NES. With its hard plastic shell, solid construction, and steel bottom it could also serve as an efficient murder weapon in the wrong hands. The buttons were much larger than the standard controller, and the Advantage had many built-in bells and whistles that seemed like a revelation.

first, i was able to beat super mario brothers. then i could beat smb as quickly as possible, without dying. with the advantage, i was able to beat smb without dying, with my feet.

There was a level in Zelda 2 where a bird would continually spawn and fly at Link. I put a book on the NES Advantage Attack button and left it on overnight to level up. 🙂

Almost as cool as the arcade sticks we have today. 😉
Seriously, more people should own a proper stick.

That is all my father used to play with, he wouldn't play Mario and such without it. Loved the damn thing, it was truly an awesome pad.

In Ice Hockey for the Nintendo, the way to win a fight was to press the A button the most. Of course I won everytime thanks to turbo.

it was a decent stick. so was neo geo's and tg16's imo. all the consoles back then had an arcade stick for them. i think neo geo was the only one that came with the console though. aside from atari of course which is my preffered stick for simple shooters

Ah the NES Advantage...good times with it. Hell...has it been 20+ years since my old man bought us a NES? Damn how time flies.

I actually own one of those lol 🙂. I also had the NES Max and a bunch of other lesser known joysticks. Nowadays all we have are the MadCatz's of the world to innovate with their controller designs.

Cool thread but man those old NES peripherals are SO FUGLY! Why has nobody posted the robot up here yet?

i had the max too but that circular control was stupid. pad was a comfy shape but i used to wish it had a typical cross direction buttons
