Anyone remember the American Living brand of clothing?

I was wondering, does anyone remember the short-lived American Living clothing brand sold at JCPenney? It was a mid-range brand owned by Ralph Lauren, comparable to their own Chaps brand but was sold exclusively at JCPenney.

I wonder, why didn't this brand last long? Chaps seems to hold itself against its chief competitor IZOD, I wonder why American Living failed.

Note that the American Living brand of women's clothing currently sold at Macy's has no relation with the original American Living brand.

No, but I tend to shop mostly at thrift stores. I do miss JCPenney's Stafford brand of underwear though. It used to be very well made with heavy weight 100% cotton.

The Stafford brand still exists, however, not sure if the underwear is still made.
