oriental??? quick question corcentral, how old are you?

I knew this would come up the minute I saw the title of the thread. It is becuase you continue to bitch about something that is not racist in any way that I will continue to use the term Oriental. I have heard it all my life and I am old compared to most the people here. I have never used it or meant it in a racist way so I will continue to use it whenever I like.

I think the main problem w/ oriental is most asians believe it to be derogatory, maybe you personally don't think so but some asians do. I personally would rather be referred to as asian than oriental, in a way it is like calling a white person cracker.

It's also a sign of how language changes, like the oh so dangerous N word. In Mark Twain's day that word was commonly used to refer to a black person now its a "racists" term.

This was off topic, but some asians just do not like being called oriental.

Just my 2 pennies...

Don't know any better? Are you daft? I use the word because I grew up hearing and using it with no disrespect intended in any way. The PC crowd likes to change things and once they do they start crying foul anytime anyone uses a word THEY have deemed improper. I resent being labeled a racist or insulting by PC weenies when they know absoulutely NOTHING of my intent or feelings. I use the term as a slap in the face to the PC idiots, not because I don't know any better. For the most part I use Asian, but when someone starts crying foul about the term Oriental, which I still use at times, I will definitley use the the term Oriental just to jab at them for being oversensitive.

I understand that languages change and as a result I tend to use Asian much more than Oriental but I reserve the right to use the latter occasionally when not making a concious effort because when I say it I MEAN NO DISRESPECT WHATSOEVER. Old habits are hard to break and you PC fools need to realize that just because you decide a word has a certain connotation all of a sudden that does not mean everyone is using it that way....are any of you capable of judging the intent of a term by the context in which it is used? I assume not since the pussification of the masses seems to be removing all cognitive thought and logic from normal everyday life these days and replacing it with knee-jerk emotional relfexes.

I agree.. its all about the context... my friends japanese grandma still calls mexicans wetbacks... (i call them gardnerers myself)

But back on topic, the videos i've found on this dude are mostly from

gprime.net

including music sheets.

There are also some Zelda/Mario Bros. techno remix songs out there on the web. Actually, I think I may have some.
