anyone remember how to calculate resistance in a parallel circuit?

i've go an extra book shelf speaker and i was wondering what the resistance of the circuit is if i wire them in parallel. two identical 8 ohm speakers. thanks!

Yep. For more than two loads, just extend the formula. For your case, it would be 4 ohms. Anytime you have two equal resistances in parallel, the equivalent resistance is just half.

thought so. 4 ohms. i think i'd blow my amp with that. crappy aiwa.

That's DC resistance NOT impedance. Dynamic loudspeakers are reactive and inductive. Their impedance also changes with frequency unless you have a fancy conjugate LZ network between the VC and amp. :)
