I will never understand the attention-whoring aspect of becoming a lifer. No one cares if you're not somebody who was a prominent member for a good reason. Or unless you do it MacBaine style, but even then, no one will ever touch the precedent he set.

Quality > Quantity. I remember someone who wrote a macro to keep posting in their own thread. The person had like 10,000 posts in less than a day (or something like that). It was a couple years ago.
