I know that this thread is a couple of months old but I wanted to share my experiences. I have had usenetserver for the last 6 months but the service has become unreliable, bad retention, poor completions, server problems and very inconsistent speeds. I just swicthed to newshosting and the retention is unbelievable. And I am finally getting steady 5Mbps download speeds. Go to the Mustiso link and read for yourself.

I've been using Astraweb for about a month, and it's OK. Once my bandlimit runs out, I'll probably give newshosting a try.

I have to agree with Giganews as they have ~50 day retention for binaries and are very fast. Sure it is $10 more for unlimited but for me they are worth it.

I'm on Astraweb with ~12 days retention in the heavy traffic groups, 2Mbs, for the same $15/month. Although completion has been fine, I think it's time to give Newshosting a try. I wonder how long they'll be able to keep that level of service up as everybody shifts over to them...
