I want honest answer here. From full friends list I have maybe two that say EQ runs as perfect from them as did pre Luclin. Problem is they are tanks and are as slow as tar and have no idea what playing bard is like since SOL.
If spend dough to upgrade my p3 733, 512ram, Geforce 3 ti 500 7200 WD HD, already cable modem etc to lastest p4 stuff, is it really going make difference? I really think all this garbage is on Verants end and just do not have honor to admit it. I like to see one person run thru shar city at basic 1074 full screen rez flawlessly. But I thought I ask those high end pc users here. You p4 2ghz EQ players what is verdict?

Well, actually.. I play(ed) until the system requirements were upgraded with the release of Luclin and left my Pentium 1 200mHz in the dust. I didn't really have anything to add to your thread that I thought would help you so I didn't reply when I first read it.

Right now I've got all my parts picked out for my new system and will buy 'em next week. Hopefully I'll wind up with a machine that runs Luclin graphics super smoothly.

My basic parts list: Asus A7V266E, Athlon 1700, 512mb ram, Audigy Xgamer sound card, ATI Radeon 8500 (little nervous about this but I think Verant had a fix posted on their web board), WD1000jb hard drive (supposedly very fast hard drive - which i want for fast zone loading since i play on a pvp server) and cd-rom, etc. What will suck is that I live in area that doesn't have high speed internet access and will be using my trusty USR modem. /sigh

I haven't played in over 2 months and it's really making me crazy..

Okay, i'm a EQ junky, and i'll post the EQ machines I have:

Machine #1:
Dual PIII 650
1GB of ECC PC100 Ram (Crucial)
Windows 2000 PRO
G200 8MB AGP

Due to the video card, on LOW settings, 640x480, everything turned off, it's in slide show mode. I only use this computer for loading another acct (my roommates) so I can do trades without any worries.

Machine #2 (My OLD machine, I just upgraded last night):
AMD tbird 1.4Ghz
KT7A-Raid
768MB of PC133 Cas2 Ram (Crucial)
Windows XP Pro
Geforce 3 (orginal, non ti)

Ran SOL great with no models on whatsoever. Did pretty good with 5 or 6 on, could handle all models I *like* (i don't like the iksar or euridite models, so keep them on old mode). Slowed down only in heavily populated places with lots of ppl around me (Bazzar, EC-mart, raid settings), I'd turn off all models then. Also ran it without animations, mipmapping, or the other memory option, only used texture cache, compression, and sound)

Machine #3 (My roommates)
AMD tbird 1Ghz
KT7A-Raid
640MB of PC133 Cas2 Ram (Crucial)
Windows XP Home
Geforce 2 GTS

Runs SOL decent with models turned on, but has most of it's problems from video, can get choppy when moving aroudn the moon. I don't use his machine enough to really note it.

Machine #4 (MY NEW MACHINE ;) )
AMD XP 1.7+
ASUS A7N266-E
1GB of PC2100 Cas2.5 Ram (Muskin)
Geforce 3 (Orginal)
Windows XP Pro

Just built it yesterday, so far, all options turned on its running great, had very minor graphics lag in bazzar with 40 ppl near the bank (One of the guilds just had a wipeout in ssera temple). No problems in any other zones I went to (Neth, DS, ME, UP), will probably see how it does with everything turned on in EC, that's the real test.

Also of note, it's playing MOHAA flawlessly too (only other game i've tried with it)

Also, you might want to check out the site www.eqdiva.com. It's run by a well known bard from my guild, and has lots of bard related info. She didn't seem to have much trouble twisting and such, so you might want to find out what she did to solve those issues.

Well, after playing with my new machine on EQ for almost 2 weeks, it's performing flawlessly. I've actually raided with the new graphics turned on (VSR, Naggy, Red Dragon out of SF (not Ragefire spawn mob), 3 groups in Umbral Plains, and a multigroup juggs raid in Seb. No real slowdown at all with some small occasions when tend not to repeat themselves. I'll give another update in a week or so as I'm about to get my geforce 4 today (after work, 2 hours to go, woot!)

the Geforce 4 is INCREDIBLE for EQ.

I've yet to have to turn any models off. I'm running with the DX only 4xaa, and everything off, and it's running SO smooth. I can handle around a 40 person raid without any slowdown in UP. Did get a nice chunk of slowdown however when someone was giving away a GEBS and FBSS in EC, turned out there was over 180ppl in the zone, with around 90 of them all in a spot small enough to fit your normal single group, that was a bit nuts. But the funny thing is that the slowdown was about the same I got when running thru the tunnel normally filled (so 20-40 ppl being rendered) on a geforce3 w/ a 1.4tbird and 768MB of ram.
