I traded my Duron combo for a BP6 combo w/ dual 400's. This is my first dualie, and my first motherboard w/ Raid. It seems like everytime I reboot the computer it clears the cmos. Everytime I reboot, it gives me a error about the CPU and pressing F1 to continue or Del to go into setup. I finally got windows installed after trying everything, but now I can't even finish the installation, because i can't get past the Blue HPT66 (or whatever it's called) screen. It's a constant loop. It's not the RAM, Video card, or NIC. Anyone have any ideas?

Could be:
CPU's
Motherboard
Bios
Hard Drive

Anyone recognize these problems?

I've had my BP6 for almost 2 years now and I haven't come across that problem. Be sure to check that the Clear CMOS jumper is also set to the "Normal" position. The other thing to check is that if you are overclocking, or have "CPU Operating Speed" set to "User Define" in the CPU Soft Menu II, ensure that "Speed Error Hold" is disabled. Otherwise, the board/bios will always think that your CPU settings are incorrect and will give you an error message every bootup.

Also, get the latest BP6 BIOS update. I found that the Highpoint IDE controller screen loaded up much more quickly afterwards.

<< good thinking...i'll have to try that tomorrow...they're all interchangable right? >>

It'll be one of those watch battery looking things (but bigger). Available at radioshack.

BTW, nice name, I was a goaltender.

Do you inital install on the ATA33 IDE port. After you get the HPT drivers installed then you can switch to the ATA 66 port.

Raid? Not a BP6 AFAIK. It has 4 IDE channels but there is no RAID controller, just 2 ATA66 and 2 ATA33. This one was one of the first boards on the market to support ATA66, It has a descrete hardware controller mounted on the mobo. It is not RAID.
