I read the series a few years ago after it had ended, but just earlier this week I started reading through it again. It's just amazing how good it is, lots of humour (sick humour) and plenty of blood and action even for the most hardcore Tarantino fan. I think with the right director on a network like HBO it could rock as a TV series.

Anyone else out there a fan of that book?

For the uninitiated here a few links and reviews

Wikipedia Synopsis

Preacher tells the story of Jesse Custer, a down-and-out preacher in the small Texas town of Annville. Custer was accidentally possessed by the supernatural creature named 'Genesis' in an incident which killed his entire congregation and flattened his church.

Genesis, the product of the unauthorized, unnatural coupling of an angel and a demon, is an infant with no sense of individual will. However, as it is composed of both pure goodness and pure evil, it might have enough power to rival that of God himself. In other words, Jesse Custer, bonded to Genesis, may have become the most powerful being in the universe.

Custer, driven by a strong sense of right and wrong, goes on a journey across the United States attempting to (literally) find God, who abandoned Heaven the moment Genesis was born. He also begins to discover the truth about his new powers, which allow him to command the obedience of those who hear his words. He is joined by his old girlfriend Tulip O'Hare, as well as a hard-drinking Irish vampire named Cassidy.

Yeah, a friend got me into it when she sent me the first TPB after it came out. Been a fan ever since, and have gotten several other people hooked on the series.

I have not opened my comic book boxes in years. the long white cardboard ones... I have four of them full of comics. A lot of CHAOS comics. Lady Death, Evil Ernie... back when the good artists did them.

I should go and look to see what I have there. I know some are worth bucks as i paid a lot for them, years ago.

I also have a lot of early spawn toys. back before they were called McFarlane... i have the ones that are called TODD TOYS.

I am just not so into that much anymore. Shame really cause I love COMFESTs and collecting and going thru the $1.00 boxes finding stuff that the owners did not even know they had...

sheesh, nostalgia.

;)
