What a weird name for a boy. It's almost as if his father listened to "A boy named sue" and decided it was a good idea.

but anyways, anyone read the book? It is very epic and ambitious...and plodding and towards the end even the author seems tired of the book, but I don't understand one central thing: why did Frank kill John?

I get the impression that the author wrote the first hundred pages or so and he figured that would be an interesting introduction...but along the way kind of lost track as to how to make it dramatically important.

read the first two, totally lost interest by pt3

I'm literally on the last ten or twenty pages of the book and I can't get the drive to finish it. It's like there are significant parts that are original and interesting, but the author seems to have lost sight of the narrative.

Yeah, some of the parts are more interesting than others. It does get dry and I can't help but think that he could have thinned the book out a little. Still, it's a pretty good series. I got the feeling that I knew everything going on on Mars, because it seems like he recorded every conversation... :p
