Just curious.... Many are listed as brand new OEM batteries, but has anyone ever gotten them and can attest to this?

Just got one actually for My T40 the standard one.
I can't believe the price, I won it for $19.99
even though he wanted $15.00 for Fedex 2day
still very cheap though. I will report back after I
Get it, should be here Fri.

There's no way to answer this without knowing who is the seller and attesting to their quality and rating. A good seller would give you nothing less than a superb product.

I would think as long as the battery is new and the seller is reputable, a replacement battery would be fine. I bought a used battery off ebay, works fine for me, and the price was right, but you have to keep in mind that batteries have a finite number of recharges in them. buying used, I never know when mine will die, so it was a gamble, but the lappy is over 3 years old, so I couldn't justify a new expensive battery.

I bought a couple of batteries off of ebay.

Those made cheaper in China, etc, worked well for a small time. Then their charge holding capabilities just dropped to nothing.

I'd rather spend the extra money on buying a good battery that lasts

Well I got the battery I had spoke of a couple of posts above
Authentic IBM battery
Had 0 Cycles but it had been used once in June of Last year
Keeps a good charge I suppose if looses too much of a charge I can get IBM to
warranty exchange it so i guess all in all not bad for 35 bucks.

I've had good luck w/ batteries on eBay. Actually have bought both laptop and UPS batteries CHEEEEAP. The only problem I've had is with laptop AC Adapters. I've gotten some real crap on eBay.

I would be careful with those "original" batteries. I recently came back from Chile and you could get "original" cell phone batteries from all brands. They came in OEM form and they had all the stickers, seals, and printings just like an original one. China makes knock offs of everything....soap, shampoo, medicines (!), batteries, etc and they have gotten so good that is really hard to tell from real ones. Just be careful. My dad needed one for his cell so I got one from 7 bucks. Works good so far.

I remember a while back some guy on here was selling used batteries. He then mentioned (here) that the batteries he was selling were tossed out because people at his work considered them bad, yet he failed to mention that in the auctions. Anyway, I'd avoid buying 'used' batts for that reason.

So people should watch out because they're made in China?

Isn't 90% of products on the market made in China legit or not?

Most knock offs are made in China. People should watch for knock offs regardless of where they are made. In any case the good knock offs don't say made in China, but whatever country the original one would say.

Both of my Motorola phones CAME WITH batteries made in China, and my IBM Thinkpad's power supply and battery is made in China. None of this stuff is "knocked off" (the cell phones were bought at a Nextel store and the Thinkpad bought from Tech Data.)

I understand the point you're trying to make, but I think you're making it the wrong way. Knock offs ARE made all over the place and can have ANY country of origin on it. Originals are OFTEN made in China AS WELL AS knock offs. The thing to do is just make sure what you're buying comes from a reputable source, REGARDLESS of the country of origin it is made in.

Don't worry about that seller. I have bought stuff from him before and he is exceptional.

Edit: And his battery works wonderfully. 🙂

Yup, I remembered that one.

He sold tossed batteries as "as-is" and condition unknown, knowing full well that the batteries could not hold their charge. He posted because a buyer wanted a refund.
