How is it? I'm thinking about picking this game up.
Haven't played a good RPG for a while.

I rented it from Blockbuster and have been having a lot of fun with it so far.

The battle's aren't wait and choose your actions like the Final Fantasy - you run around the screen and attack, do magic, etc.

Review @ IGN They give it 8.5/10~

Yeah, I read it was made by the same developer - I've never played those games, but this one is pretty sweet~

It's pretty fun. It has a small multiplaying aspect to it (only in combat) but the graphics are very bright and animated.

I am about 30+hrs into the game. (It's an ~80hr game). Been playing about 4 hours per day. :p

Its a great game. I'm not a fan of RPG's really mainly because of the extremeley countless annoying random battles, but being able to pick your fights (kinda because you should fight if you want to level up) is a HUGE benefit. The fighitng is actually FUN (instead of bunch of summons and magic) its actually hectic action fighting.

The voice acting is pretty bad, the story is pretty bland, and the cheesiness of the chracters is quite high, but its definitely still enjoyable. It doesn't ruin the game, but if they were better the game could've been amazing I say.

I'm 12 hours into it. It's kinda fun running around in the battles and doing things in real-time. But I must say that I miss being able to always fully choose my characters' actions (like in a turn-based RPG). It's like my other characters will learn new things and I don't even care about it because I never control them anyway. So the only character I ever find wanting to control (mostly) is the main character.

The story is probably average/slightly above average. The Overworld map sucks. Don't like that at all. There are a bunch of items and rare items to find/make/buy. To me the music is rather bland. Nothing spectacular at all. Whatever happened to memorable music in RPG's/Adventure games?? FF4, FF6, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Zelda... =(

Bottom line for me: the game is good but not excellent. I feel the drive to learn more and play to the end. Recommended.

I'd buy it now if I didn't have a huge stack of unplayed games, I'll probably get it once it goes down in price a bit.

It's a good thing I bought the GameCube. I think I'll pick it up when it gets a bit cheaper. 50 bones is still to expensive for my unemployed self.

Yeah, that's why I rented it first. I really don't have the cash to buy it at the moment, plus I've got tons of other games that I'm not even close to beating (Wind Waker).

Oh well, can't wait to get home and play more! :D

Toys-R-Us had a $10 off $50 coupon, so I used that to get it for ~$43 after tax. Still a lot, but I really wanted a game to play over the summer.

I agree mostly w/ xboxist. They could've easily made the game excellent if they improved the story, better music, voice acting, etc. but as it is now, it's still a good game.

I'm not bored with it one bit though. In fact, the story gets better, and theres some more interesting characters (Presea!). I didn't want to stop last night but I needed to sleep.

One thing I hated about that FF games is that you had to fight A LOT of random battles outside of the story just to be strong enough to beat the bosses (especially at the very end) and move one. I really hated that... there was no enjoyment in fighting a ton of extra battles (especially when they were boring). But in Tales of Symphonia you're pretty on par if you just fight everything following the story.

BEST GAME EVAR!

well ok, it's probably not the BEST game evar, but it is damn near the top on my list of best games evar.

Graphics are amazing, cell-shaded animation w/ smooth textures and bold/crisp colors. The battles are incredibly fun and intense.

The voice overs aren't too bad for well, voice overs. I mean voice overs are usually hard to get right (think of FFX and how bad that was). They use the voice of robin from Teen Titans as Lloyd and a few other famous voice people.

Storyline is pretty good, but it is kind of confusing right now for me (i'm about 20 hours in) obviously b/c the story is still unfolding.

MUST BUY THE GAME. PERIOD.
