Anyone playing Ragnarok online?

Its ok... not worth paying for though. Cant seem to find anything to do but wander around and level up.

I think I took a look at their site a while back, but I haven't wanted to take time away from Subspace/Continuum to try it. I can't seem to get enough of that game.

Don't even bother with it. Horrible game. Yes...all you do is wander around and level up. Nothing else. Nothing else to really do othan read long dialoges in the training rooms and then they quiz you to make sure you caught everything you read in that dialogue (actually more of a monologue since you really don't get to say anything). No PKing, no quests, no nothing. Horrible!!!

since this is my only online game experience it makes me wonder if things like UO and EQ suck like this.. just wanderingaround leveling up for no good reason.

i can't say for EQ, but UO rocks.
After your character is trained, hunt newbies is the best.
I was playing in free pub. My guild had people dedicated to mining and chemistry.
All I had to do was packed up a lot of bombs and go chuck them at people.
Go into people's unlocked house and steal everything was very fun also.

As for the meaning of Ragnarok, it is the last battle of good and evil in the Icelandic Sagas. Basically, Good is destined to lose, but it's not in losing, but the way you fight. All the true heroes will be aligned on the side of good, and all bad on the side of evil. and they battle it out, good loses, and everything is consumed by emptiness.


that's the cliffnotes on the sparknotes on the condensed version of the abridged Icelandic Sagas. so take it with a grain of salt. 😛

It's really the only thing that I know of that BBSes are still used for. Although I'm sure there are some, it's the only thing people do with Worldgroup based bbses.

8 years is too fscking long.. lol. Way too much brain space wasted on game information.. hehe. I can't believe it's been this long, started when I was 14.. I'm 22 now.

How fscking sad is that? 😛

Although, we don't have to be at keyboard to play. Back in the "old times", we wrote scripts that play the game for us.

Now there is a terminal program called MegaMUD that does everything a script can do, and more.. like run you to places(the realm is rather large).

Crappy Anime-esqe Korean MMORPG, blatantly trying to be Everquest. Was in it in the beta. Realized it sucked. Went back to beta testing good games.

no, UO you kill people and break into their houses then kill them and then warp into the dungeon and kill more and laugh when everyone yells "OMG PKS RUN!"

and then you get bored with that so you turn anti-PK and hunt PKs. sooo fun!
