anyone playing Oblivion with x800xl?

Been itching to try out the game now that its around $35. Anyone playing this with a x800xl? I'm not a big gamer by any means, but for some reason I'm thinking about the x1800xt. I was just wondering if I can get by until DX10 without a video card upgrade.

If I could get 30fps with the max draw distances (from what I've heard) I think I'd be pretty happy.

yeah my backup rig uses an x800xl and it works wonderfully. 1280x960 is no problem with no AA (which is not necessary at that res anyway) and just like all ATI cards it works much better outside tho still provides great frams indoors as well. i would recommend overclocking it a bit as this provided me with some drastic improvements, more than the usual 5-10fps usually associated with OC'ing. but in summation, yes ur x800xl is fine unless u really want a new one. u can get a x1800xt for ~300 right now, course personally i'd go with a 7900gt but its ur choice man, wont be unhappy with either. i just love my 7900 cause it OC's like no card ive ever had.

Cool, thanks. I guess worst case, I get Oblivion and see how it goes. Then, if I feel I need more GPU power, I'll have to do the whole 7900gt versus 1800xt thing.

My x800xl OC's pretty bad. Granted, I've just left the stock cooling on there, but the AIT automatic OC'er tool doesn't get very far.

yeah u can see what i got on mine with the zalman, being they arnt the x800xt core the core generally doesnt OC very well, however the mem is the same rated speed as that of the x850xt(PE) so mem gets to 1200 easily, left it at 1160 for guaranteed stability. even un OC'ed u should do fine tho.

keep in mind oblivion is COMPLETELY playable at ~25 FPS. dont even really notice it.

My x800XL runs on my 1680x1050 resolution pretty well. FPS starts to go down whenever I get face to face with a mob that uses a lot of magic though heh.
