Never judge 2K basketball games by what they do with the MLB games. They are simply night and day.
The NBA 2K series has consistently been one of the best sports games out there, bar none. It's incredible how stale and pathetic the MLB franchise has gotten, especially with The Show utterly obliterating it year after year. But 2K continues to impress with the NBA license, and it's usually always worth a buy.
It's not that I was blaming the basketball team for the baseball team's issues. The combo pack was both games for $80. That annoyed me right from the start, since the 2K12 combo pack was $70, and
MLB 2K13 was a no-effort release, so adding $10 to the cost of the combo pack when you put no actual money into making the MLB game was a joke.
However, I could get past that, because $120 of games for $80 is still a good deal. When I found out how there was NOTHING from
MLB 2K13 that was improved, I gave up. They even left all of the Achievements (except for one, which was a minor change) the same. Oh, and they removed online leagues, so they put in no effort, removed one big feature, and expected people to pay $10 more? Heeeeeell no.
That was in March when
MLB released, and by that time, I didn't see it as worthwhile to spend $60 (when the pack was $80) on just the NBA game. I've still got Jordan Challenges and My Player stuff to finish on 2K11, and I have a LOT to do on 2K12 still, and that's as of today. 2K13 would have sat and collected dust, most likely, so I figured waiting until 2K14 was a better option. I have a $50 Best Buy gift card with nothing to use it on, so if 2K14 goes on-sale around Black Friday, I might pick it up. Otherwise, Christmas gift.
Even then, I'm debating if I just want to skip 2K14 and wait for 2K15 on the One.
