So far it's only a demo, done by only 3 developers (no big company to screw up things), but it's solid and has good multiplayer. The physics is its high point, and in my opinion is superior to almost all other driving games.

Live for Speed.

I spent hours playing it this weekend, and I loved it. The physics are very good, and yet, unlike Grand Prix Legends, it is easy to learn how to drive, and you can drive a couple of laps without crashing. I've been playing GPL since it came out, and only now I have a new driving game I like. You can play it with the mouse, but of course a steering wheel or joystick makes your life easier, because you can brake without locking the wheels, and you can control the throttle better.

If you were disappointed with NFS-HP2, give it a try, because it's free and I think you will like it. If all you want are cool crashes and eye-candy, well, maybe this is not for you.

LFS is freaking great. Ive been playing the demo online since late August.
Definitely some of the best physics I have ever seen in any racing game, and the in-cabin view is incredible.
The way the camera moves realistically as you press the gas and brakes..wow.
I love doing stunts with the modified 10khp GTI. Very fun. :)

It really is amazing what the developers have done with the game.

Go download the game now guys!

I've been playing LFS since I found out about it from whoever posted the link for it in last weeks NFS: HS2 demo thread. I really like it and am excited about where it seems to be going.

I haven't done any multiplayer yet. I've been doing laps on my own, trying to bring down my lap times and get better at handling the three cars. I'm still having trouble beating the AI on the Pro setting. Either they've created some superior AI that are really good at defending their lines, or the AI are not very aware of who is around them. They keep rear-ending me and sending me into a spin, or pushing me out of their way until I lose control of the car.

Also, I can't seem to get the settings right on the GT Turbo. Really bad overstear when coming out of turns so that the rear end spins out. I've downloaded some of the settings but still haven't found one that feels right yet. Anyone who has found a good setting for this car want to share their settings?

Besides those things and needing to improve my skills I think this game is great! I hope this project doesn't go down the toilet because of a lack of funding. I'm tired of the arcade style driving games being produced by the big name publishing companies.

Will my rig handle it? PIII-850/GF-DDR (1st one)

To rack up credits faster I started playing all tracks at a higher level of difficulty. I think a victory in "newbie" only gets on 6 credits, while if you finish 2nd in "Quick" you get something like 32. A couple of 3-lap races in each track should do it, although it doesn't hurt to practice with the low-powered cars. Benefit from the fact that the AI's are slower the first time you run a track.

The biggest problem I have with the game is that the AI drivers are always hitting you when you are in the best line though a curve. They don't give you any room, and that's very annoying. They should be smarter in that respect and should avoid collisions. They just follow the same line, lap after lap.

Apart from that, as of patch G3, my Logitech FF wheel still does not work in split-axis mode.

I really hope these guys are successful, and the final game is mod-friendly, so we can have awesome rally and road racing games.

haha, our complaints about this game are few, but identical! I hope they fix it so my Logitech FF wheel will work in split-axis mode. That's how all my other driving games are and I have to keep remembering to change the controller settings back before launching the games. And of course the AI Collision problem also needs fixing. In due time I guess....

What a smashingly original name! And the website is being hammered right now...(must remind myself that I did not buy a laptop to play games.)

Is it me, or can i not setup the game to use keys for the steering?
I know the mouse makes the steering more realistic, but come on who plays a car game with a mouse.

Bump for great game!! :D

If you don't have a wheel, any old joystick will work.
