Anyone played Star Ocean for PS2?

Looks like an awesome game, got great reviews. I just want to make sure it's not all cheesy and teeny-bopper like FFX-2. I need a good story and I love RPG's.

You won't be desapointed based on story complexity and adult theme. Its not in the same cheesy league as girly baby ffx-2.

For the graphix, I would give it an 7.5/10. Now, it as a japanese flair to it, so I would give it a +1 on the graphics if you are in that sort of things. Personnaly, I think it is really good artistically but not exellent technically.

In the gamplay departement, it is so deep and rich (battle/items/technique and so on and so forth) that I would easilly give it a 9/10.

I like the music but it is not classic stuff. I have no taste for the sounds effect so no comment about them.
I have invested about 40 hours in the game and I have yet to put the second dvd in the drive, so I have no problem beleiving that the game takes more then 80 hours to finish.

I read many good reviews of this game so I picked it up, but after playing it....

I really wouldn't recommend it.

Some parts of the game are well done. For example, the graphics are pretty good (dated but nice), and the battle system is interesting. But the meat of a rpg, the story, is just lacking.

I found myself really disliking all the characters and wondering what the hell the writer was thinking. Also I had to mute the game whenever there were events with spoken dialogue, the voice acting is that terrible. Not to mention the horrible lines the VAs were given.

I really don't understand all the hype for this game and unless you have a very high tolerance for crappy stories just stay away.

Mareg, It is supposed to be a 200+ hour game.

I havn't started playing it yet so I can't give a review. Trying to finish 4 other games first.

Got about ~5 hours in, but I'm splitting time between this and Fable, so it's tough.

But so far so good

i have the star ocean, it avery good game. It has a pretty good story too it also.
