I've been playing through Witcher 2 before I play 3, and I've mostly been playing it on my 60" plasma. For the most part it looks amazing, but I've noticed that sometimes there are faint horizontal bars that are kind of interposed on the screen. Basically it looks like there is kind of filter with alternating dark/light bars.

Now that I've noticed it I see it more than before I originally saw it. It seems to be most noticeable over grass textures with bright lighting from what I can tell. I've messed around with settings on my video card/TV and graphics settings in the game quite a bit with no luck. I was using a 50ft HDMI cable which I thought may be the problem but I set up my tower next to the TV with a DP>HDMI cable and still see the same problem.

The only hit I got searching around the internet was a guy saying that it was due to audio being passed through the HDMI cable which I don't really believe, if that was the case I'm guessing I'd see this noise on other PC games on my TV which isn't the case. If anyone has had this problem and found a way to fix it I'd appreciate it, I was enjoying the game quite a bit on my TV and going back to my 24" monitor is kind of a drag now after experiencing it.

Does the effect show up in screenshots? Would be nice to have a clear visual of what you're talking about.

What TV? Could it be backlight / local dimming settings?

I haven't tried a screenshot yet but I don't notice this problem on my monitor so I'm not sure it would show up there, but I will try when I get a chance.

The TV I'm using is a Samsung PN60F5300A, I tried messing around with some of the settings, specifically I tried to disable anything dynamic or auto that may try to adjust the picture on the fly but it didn't seem to have an effect.

Does the TV have a "Computer" or "Game" setting? Those usually disable all the background filters and whatnot to reduce input lag. If you know that it happens when outputting to the TV but not the monitor your answers are either "cable issue" or "TV issue," and you already tested the tower with another cable. So I would guess it's a setting within the TV. But just for a lark, try screenshotting it to see if it shows up in a screenshot. Maybe even open the screenshot fullscreen and switch between the monitor and TV to see if you can notice the effect across both.

Yeah I'll have to try the screenshot tonight, there is a "Game" setting on my TV but it didn't fix the issue so I think I might just have to give up on it.
