Anywho, there was a thread on slashdot a while back about good linux games and someone mentioned UrbanTerror. It's fun! Give it a shot if you're toying with linux and miss your windows games. Don't expect crysis-level graphics, but you can expect some good classic fun.
I miss HL2 too, especially after I parted out my windows gaming machine and sold the parts on Ebay for a good profit. However there is a reason why I did it, it's getting really expensive in the gaming scene on PC and two I don't want to be using windows anymore and I would never upgrade to vista for DX10.
Now when I get the urge to play, I use WINE on my T60 ThinkPad to play Day of Defeat and HL Deathmatch both play perfectly (OpenGL supporting games). However I can't play any HL2 source engine based game because my system can't handle the graphics
So instead of going back into the Windows gaming scene, I have just ordered a PS3 for a nice $299 from Sony and I will be getting the orange box and Unreal tournament 3 to go with it. Granted it OB doesn't have Day of Defeat nor Day of Defeat Source nor HL2 DeathMatch which makes me angry but it's better than nothing, plus I ordered a Mouse and Keyboard adapter so that I can play the orange box on my desk with decent control (Why no Mouse and Keyboard support Valve??). At least UT3 does support mouse and keyboard and HL2 will be one KVM switch away rather than having to fiddle with HL2 on WINE or get an Nvidia equipped ThinkPad from Lenovo for $$$ just so that I can play HL2 in WINE at a crappy framerate and quality.
I will give Urban Terror a shot and I would suggest you play Tremulous on Linux, I love that game, graphics quality is very nice and game play is really fun too.
