Don't do it. Please, I beg of you don't do it. I started playing this game at the end of my second year of college. It became so addicting, I'd do it every free minute I had. It's like the worst RPG on crack because building your guys takes forever. You have to actually sit there and chop wood or sew dresses for HOURS and HOURS before you can get anywhere in the game. Plus all the people who have been playing for awhile have so much stuff and when I quit they had just made it a lot more difficult to advance. I had some kickass characters that I probably could have sold and a house but I just couldn't log back on because I hate it so much. I used to use a macro program to semi cheat(not really cheating because I would just push one button and it would do like 4 repetitive tasks but I would still have to do those repetitive 4 tasks about a million times to get anywhere). I'm not joking at all, unless you have a ton of time on your hands(my roommate played it probably 8 hours a day for about a month and a half and his guys still weren't very good) and can't find anything at all in the world to do, then maybe I could suggest it. Nope, that game sucks. Way too much playing time for WAY too little fun. I'd check out everquest, I haven't played that one, but it can't be any worse than stupid ultima online.

Yea, 3 years ago!!! HAHAHAHA

Man that game is old. I played it Beta in 97 all year long, and when it came out, I bought it and played a month... haven't played it since.

It's not your money you should worry about being well spent, it's you time!

Like the one guy said, it won't be spent well at all... HOURS AND HOURS of slaving over a game for "little reward" more than a bag of gold or an improved skill or something.

Star Wars online is supposed to be coming out soon, and with the success EQ had (has) I'd say it might be worth checking out... then again, you'll probably spend you life playing it too.. hehe

It can ruin your life. Just like the others have said, to even midly enjoy it, you have to play ALOT 8+ hours a day. I lost a very good and important job. The moment I was fired, I quit playing UO and my life has been FAR better since. DO NOT. There are far better games out there to play multiplayer that are even WAY more modern. Origin provides BAD support for an outdated product that can destroy your life. Im totally serious here.
