Anyone play the bagpipes?

I've been wanting to learn to play some instrument for a few months now but haven't been quite sure what. I was sitting here today listening to the dropkick murphys today and it hit me, the bagpipes. I love the sound and its eccentric enough for me that it'd be a good match I'm thinking about buying a practice chanter and wondered if anyone who plays can recommend one, a book/cd, and a place to buy them?

They are very difficult as I understnd it, and require a good bit of stamina.

I'm considering picking up a tin whistle.

Yeah I'm heard that too so I'm a bit intimated, supposedly if you start with a practice chanter you have alot greater chance of being able to move up to the real thing after a while. I've also been looking at teh accordian though as it seems easier, but I love pipes alot more!

Or for that matter how about teh accordion? I've been trying to read about them but information on starting to play sucks.

How'd you learn? Start with the real thing or a practice chanter?
