my friends and i are thinking about getting it and playing it via the net.
a few concerns though:

I've played civilization and i love every aspect of it. However, it took quite a long time to finish the game,
and i'm wondering how that concept works when you're playing via the net. since RON is sort of like
civ, we dont wanna sit there for days just to build an army and cities. I realize that's the whole point of
the game and that's cool.

either that or we get C&C Generals and blow each other away! :D

A typical game can be finished in an hour if you want it to. The average game length is much shorter than your normal rts.

really ... hmmmmm ... we played WC 3 and love it, and we wanted to try something new.
So, it's RON is more like building cities and then killing each other once we have new technology?

I've played the single-player trial version against the computer, and it's fun and tedious at the same time. You've constantly got to click on buildings to make sure you're up on the latest research, and armies tend to turn into conglomerations of units with little regard for strategy. But it's good fun..

RON is very comparable to empire earth. its real-time (unlike civilization, which is turn-based), so most games only take a few hours. i played the demo awhile back, and i liked it a lot.

This game owned me for about 3 days. I have been able to ween myself off of it for a bit though. I plan on upping the difficulty, which will probably lead to me being owned again.
