Planetside has one MAJOR issue. Its a MMOFPS. Therefore the lag is rediculous and syncing problems are all over the place. Granted I tried it early in its development but the overall concept has flaws within current technology. I hear its gotten alot better now but its still pretty laggy. The problem is that with FPS games you load the whole map and player data is sent back and forth for the whole map. With a MMO player data and object must be sent dynamically as you move to different areas. This causes alot of lag and desyncing. For a RPG game it works since you are usually fighting NPC's on the server and not on a client PVP style, and also the type of turn based action is not as time senstive as say aiming a gun at a moving target.
