From Steam:
NEStalgia is an original MORPG inspired by the glory days of traditional console RPGs. Essentially "Dragon Warrior 3 meets World of Warcraft", NEStalgia is an amalgam of the best generations of RPG gaming. You can play solo, in private games with friends, or online with hundreds of other players!

Hmm, that does indeed sound interesting. $11.24 USD today; tempting. :hmm:

Suggested reading before playing NEStalgia, the developer may permanently ban you and steal your lifetime subscription money for reasons ranging from 'Telling him to leave your private forum' to 'Pointing out flaws in the game'.

This game actually looks really cool, but there has been some pretty serious criticism of the mods & game dev, so I'm out.

Played several hours of this on the weekend (I think I am level 12 right now?). It is a lot of fun and definitely brings me back to the good old days of these types of RPGs.

I like how you essentially recruit the monsters you are fighting as you go through, giving you lots of different groups you can make, with different skills. The quests are pretty simple, but fun. I do find it a bit of a grind at times since I need to get my level up to do certain parts, but overall I am liking it quite a bit.

I hate when indie games claim to be 8bit but they're clearly 16 or 32
16bit console games looked way better than this. I'm sure the devs weren't scientific about sticking to 8bit limitations, but this looks like a much closer approximation than most indie games.

I'd put it at Master System level graphics. Too many colors for NES, but too pixelated for Genesis.
