Anyone play Navy Field?

Hmm, this looks pretty interesting...

but it looks kind of like an RTS ?

can you explain how the game is played (read the "about navy field" page and it mainly talks about advancement but not how the game is actually played...

is it another MMO where a person who spends the most $$ wins? (buying stuff online/multiple accounts/etc..)

i played it when it was in beta... once you hit around 20, it takes FOREVER to level.

if you start, the easiest way to level is to be a torpedo whore. it may be frowned upon, but it makes leveling 100x easier.

lozina - different classes of ships arrange to fight each other (each ship has a designated point value, so teams can be balanced). the object is to destroy the other team with guns/torpedos. torps being the easiest if you can get a hit with them. IIRC, they let you play for free until level 30

Yeah, I'm looking through the manual now to figure it out... I thought the same thing when I read their website, it doesn't really tell you what kind of game it is.

It does seem like spending money is the way to get ahead in this game, but I think it could still be fun without spending money.

How long is forever? In a way it's good that it takes forever to level up after level 20, because then you can play longer without paying. 🙂 But you also can't use good ships.

I think what lozina was asking was what the style of play is... i.e. real-time strategy, turn-based strategy, etc.
